Finish Options

Uncoated Paper

Uncoated paper has no extra coating or paper finishing. Since there is no coating, there is no glare on the surface, which makes it ideal for prints that have a lot of reading material. This is the most porous paper, which is the best for smudge-less writing with the widest range of pens and pencils when compared to other finishes. Large areas of ink may appear blotchy due to the high ink absorption.

Matte Coating

Matte coating is a light coating that provides a boost to the contrast of your prints, but results in very little glare. Matte coating provides a smoother presentation than an uncoated sheet, and a softer appearance than a glossy sheet. Matte coating is good for enhancing designs with a more subdued layout and color set without having a lot of glare, which glossy coatings suffer from.

Gloss Coating

Gloss coating provides a lot of shine, which results in a higher contrast and color gamut. This coating is good for full-color images where colors need to “pop.” This coating gives a very nice finish and professional look for marketing materials or any other kinds of prints that want to show off its colors.

UV Gloss Coating

UV Gloss coating is a premium coating that makes pictures really stand out. It enhances color contrast and makes those vibrant colors pop out, more so than the regular gloss. UV coating provides a much greater shine than gloss coating.

Luster Lamination

Luster Cards is 16pt card stock laminated with an optically clear 3mil high gloss laminate on both sides, giving the cards a 22pt thickness. Luster Cards are water resistant, but not waterproof. This means the cards stand up well when they come in contact with a small amount of water, but cannot be submerged in water without water seeping into the card and causing damage.

Silk Lamination

A silk finish is a lamination process that applies a thin layer of polypropylene to give business cards a silky smooth matte finish. Silk lamination gives cards a luxuriously smooth feel and may dull color and contrast slightly. Silk lamination is tear and water resistant.

Suede Touch Lamination

Suede Touch is a 16pt stock with a 1.5mil soft velvet, scuff resistant laminate applied to both sides of the sheet for a total thickness of 19pt. The soft velvet lamination adds a soft supple look and feel, which softens colors, reduces contrast and gives an overall lighter, muted appearance. It is water resistant, but not waterproof.

Spot Coating / Spot UV

Coating paper only in specific areas as opposed to all-over coating. In a Spot UV job the print gets a UV coating in specific areas only and does not get any UV coating in any other places. Spot UV can be referred to as spot varnish.
